The Friends of the Hampton Falls Free Library organization works in cooperation with the Library Director and staff to support enrichment programs and supplement library resources. Among the events and services we sponsor are:

  • Purchase of educational books and materials such as the recent updating of Eyewitness Books, a series of nonfiction reference books for children and young adults.
  • Speakers on topics such as travel, cooking, music, local history and nature.
  • Area museum and cultural institution memberships which offer free or discounted admission to Library patrons, including: Bedrock Gardens, Children’s Museum of Maine, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Mount Washington Weather Station, MFA, NH State Parks Pass, the Seacoast Science Center and Strawbery Banke. Many of these passes include outdoor venues that have provided safe recreational and learning opportunities for patrons during the pandemic.
  • OmPractice, an online platform offering live, interactive movement and mindfulness classes.
  • Summer Reading Program materials and prizes.
  • Little Free Library boxes located at the Library parking lot and at Governor Weare Park, providing a selection of books for both children and adults – available 24/7.
Eight women stand outdoors around a small free library, each holding children's books and smiling at the camera.

We fund free family passes to the NH State Park system, and the Library has fully equipped backpacks available for outdoor activities, including a backpack specifically outfitted for bird enthusiasts. Learn more by watching this short video.  Other “lending” library items include snow shoes and poles (for adults and children), a telescope for star gazing, and a metal detector for treasure hunting. Sponsorship plans for 2022 include funding a Writers Workshop open to residents who want to hone their skills by sharing their writing with others. Our Writers Workshop is facilitated by an experienced instructor and published author. In addition, we are sponsoring a writing program for children, focusing on comic books as a medium for storytelling.
